The Tokyo 2020 Olympics Logo winning design incorporates the message of “Unity of Diversity”. The winning designer Asao Tokolo of Tokyo created a harmonized checkered emblem to “represent different countries, cultures, and ways of thinking”. The design utilizes the popularity of the checkered pattern, but it is composed using “three varieties of rectangular shapes”. The color chosen was the deep rich color of indigo blue or “Japan blue” to express “a refined elegance and sophistication that exemplifies Japan”.
