Here’s an excerpt from one of them: A Pinecone Smile. Four children who live next door collected dozens of pine cones and arranged them to spell that five-letter word — “SMILE” — in a place where a neighbor, Kathy, could see it from inside her home. “Kathy’s a wonderful neighbor, more vulnerable than others. We wanted to give her something she could see from the window,” said Aviva, whose family has lived next door to Kathy since 2015.
“This little family, I totally love them,” Kathy said. “When I’m upstairs in my office, I still look out and smile.”
3. NBC News featured a story about a couple in New York City who were married on the street by a friend in a window (keeping social distancing requirements).
