Artist Recreates Hokusai’s ‘Great Wave’ Out of 50,000 LEGO Blocks
Katsushika Hokusai’s The Great Wave off Kanagawa is a celebrated work of art. The Japanese woodblock print depicts a large cresting wave framing Mount Fuji and the three boats. It is instantly recognizable and has inspired many artists. It inspired professional LEGO builder and Japan-based artist Jumpei Mitsui to create a sculpture out of LEGO blocks. Watch Mitsui complete the 4 feet x 5 feet 3D interpretation of “The Great Wave” out of 50,000 LEGO blocks.
